Control Engineer Intern

The Control Engineer Intern will be a vital component in supporting the design and development of quality control improvements and initiatives for manufacturing operations. This position will shadow the Manufacturing Engineer while working cross-functionally with the Production, Quality, Warehouse and Engineering departments to ensure timely completion of projects through the 12-week internship in 2023.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•  Follow directions provided by the Manufacturing Engineer and Production Manager

•  Aid in documentation revision control process for SOP’s and drawings

•  Read and analyze electronic schematics and practice circuit theory

•  Assist in engineering projects dealing with logistics, process flow, inventory flow, quality and data capture

•  Work with multiple functional groups to achieve assigned tasks

•  Provide support and potential solutions to identified areas as needed

•  Capture, analyze and extrapolate data using applicable statistical methods

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

•  Must be a student enrolled in an accredited Engineering degree program, having completed at least two full-time semesters

•  Have the ability to read and write technical documents including SOP’s, mechanical drafts, datasheets, and miscellaneous control documentation

•  Demonstrate application of basic Engineering principles and tools

•  Detail-oriented, high degree of attention to the accuracy of detail

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

•  Technically focused with enthusiasm to learn

•  Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and a familiarity with CAD

•  Familiarity with continuous improvement tools and concepts of LEAN Six Sigma

•  Understanding of ESD protected areas and precautions

•  Familiarity with equipment including oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons, and other repair tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

This position works much of the time on a computer depending on workload needs. Specific duties and equipment requirements of the position are: use of the engineering machine shop and all associated equipment necessary for product test, build, and functional validation. Typical equipment used for this position includes electrical measurement devices (oscilloscope, power supply, multi-meter, etc.), mechanical tools (hand tools, drill press, saws, etc.), and computer tools (CAD, Excel, programs for reviewing circuits, etc.) This position requires occasional carrying and lifting up to 40lbs. This position, can include engineering lab and production floor hazards, and is seldom exposed to temperature extremes. These physical requirements must be performed with or without accommodations.
