Williams Sound, a global designer and manufacturer of wireless listening technology located in Eden Prairie, Minn., was pleased to sponsor and participate in the Hearing Loss Association of America (HLAA) 2012 Walk4Hearing on Saturday, September 29, 2012, at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis.
Paul Ingebrigtsen, President and CEO of Williams Sound says, “Williams Sound was pleased to sponsor the second annual Walk4Hearing in the Twin Cities to help raise awareness about hearing loss, as well as to support the HLAA in their educational efforts. It was a great opportunity for our company and our employees to show their support for our customers. And it was a perfect day for a 5K — a warm and sunny autumn morning in Minnesota. We urge everyone to join in the fun next year!”
HLAA launched the Walk4Hearing in 2006, a nationwide walk in several cities to increase awareness among the general public about hearing loss. Their ongoing goals: to have hearing loss recognized as a health issue; to minimize the stigma associated with wearing hearing aids, cochlear implants, and assistive technology; to raise funds to expand services and programs for people with hearing loss and their families; and to empower the HLAA state organizations and chapters to do more local outreach.
HLAA was founded in 1979 by Rocky Stone as Self Help for Hard of Hearing People. The mission of HLAA is to open the world of communication to people with hearing loss through information, education, advocacy and support. HLAA publishes the bimonthly Hearing Loss Magazine, holds annual conventions, hosts the Walk4Hearing, educates via online learning through the Hearing Loss Academy, and more. HLAA has 200 chapters and 14 state organizations. Information can be found at www.hearingloss.org. The national headquarters is located at 7910 Woodmont Avenue, Suite 1200, Bethesda, MD 20814.
