IR+ Control Center with Dante

IR M1 D

The IR+ Control Center provides audio over Wi-Fi and Infrared. Infrared is best used for assistive audio in large spaces, or for secured audio transmission within a room. Connect the IR M1 to a Wi-Fi multicast router or in-house network to stream audio over Wi-Fi to the Williams AV WaveCAST app (available in the iOS app store or Google Play store).

The IR+ Control Center features a distributed infrared emitter array architecture allowing up to four emitters either stacked together for large room arrays or distributed throughout the room to accommodate wings in room design, balconies or other obscured venue locations.

The rack mounted or remotely located IR M1 Control Center comes standard with support for up to four IR emitters. Each emitter runs back to the modulator via a CAT5e cable, providing the audio and power needed to support the remote emitter. Each emitter has a coverage area of 18,000 sq. ft.

AES67 & Native Dante® Integration: This version of the product features Dante. The IR M1 D is Dante AES67 compliant, so it connects natively with Dante devices and interoperates with other AES67-compatible professional audio equipment, giving integrators more flexibility to build mixed-brand systems without extra hardware.

Enterprise-Ready with Dante Domain Manager: The IR M1 D works with all three Dante Domain Manager (DDM) tiers, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, giving IT and AV teams secure, login-based permissions, room-by-room device grouping, and the ability to manage and scale the system across an entire building or campus from one place.

  1. What does the IR+ Control Center with Dante do? The IR M1 D is an infrared modulator that delivers audio over both infrared and Wi-Fi. Infrared is ideal for assistive listening in large spaces or for secure audio transmission within a room, while Wi-Fi streaming lets guests listen on their own smartphones through the free Williams AV WaveCAST® app.
  2. How many emitters can the IR M1 D support? The IR M1 D supports up to four IR emitters. Emitters can be stacked together for large room arrays or distributed throughout the room to cover wings, balconies, or other obscured areas of a venue.
  3. How large an area can the system cover? Each emitter covers up to 18,000 sq. ft., so coverage scales with the number of emitters connected, up to four.
  4. How are the emitters connected and powered? Each emitter connects to the IR M1 D with a single CAT5e cable that carries power (+48VDC), RS-485 communication, and the baseband signal for IR transmission, so no separate power supply is needed at the emitter location.
  5. Why choose infrared for assistive listening? Infrared light stays within the room, which makes it well suited for secure or confidential audio, such as courtrooms, boardrooms, and government facilities, and allows multiple rooms in the same building to operate without interference.
  6. Can guests listen on their smartphones? Yes. Connect the IR M1 D to a Wi-Fi multicast router or in-house network to stream audio over Wi-Fi to the free WaveCAST app, available in the iOS App Store and Google Play store.
  7. What audio inputs does the IR M1 D have? In addition to Dante®, the IR M1 D has two combination 3-pin XLR/1/4″ (TRS) jacks that accept balanced or unbalanced line level or microphone signals, with selectable phantom power.
  8. Is the IR M1 D AES67 compliant? Yes. The IR M1 D is Dante AES67 compliant, so it can exchange audio with AES67-compatible equipment from other manufacturers, not just Dante devices, without additional converters.
  9. Does the IR M1 D support Dante Domain Manager (DDM)? Yes. The IR M1 D is compatible with all three DDM tiers, Silver, Gold, and Platinum, so IT and AV teams can manage user access, group devices by room or building, and scale the system across a large facility from a single interface.
  10. How is the IR M1 D configured? Settings such as audio processing (compression and high-pass/low-pass filters) and the auto carrier shut-off timer can be adjusted through the IR M1 D’s embedded website. Two front-panel headphone jacks allow monitoring of the CH A and CH B audio inputs, and a built-in 400 Hz test tone helps with setup and diagnostics.
  11. Can the IR M1 D be rack mounted? Yes. The IR M1 D occupies a single rack unit and can be rack mounted or located remotely.
  12. Can firmware be updated from a Mac? Not currently. Firmware updates are unable to be completed on Mac computers at this time; use a Windows PC for firmware updates.
  13. What is the warranty on the IR M1 D? The IR M1 D modulator includes a 2-year warranty, with 90 days on accessories.
