SoundPlus® T3 – Medium-Area Infrared Transmitter

IR T3

The SoundPlus® T3 continues Williams AV’s legacy of audio innovation. Featuring cutting-edge LED technology, it delivers a stronger, more consistent audio signal over a wider range than previous models, ensuring comprehensive coverage and minimizing dropouts.

The new LEDs offer increased power and efficiency, providing complete coverage of up to 32,000 sq ft (2,972 sq m), overcoming background noise, reverberations, and distance from the sound source. With its expanded coverage pattern and more robust audio signal, there’s no need for the additional cost of a secondary unit.

Engineered for AV professionals, the T3 offers a two-channel infrared transmitter with an integrated modulator and emitter. It operates on switchable carrier frequencies and includes optional Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) capability, allowing remote power delivery up to 100 feet, and remote RS-232 commands provide convenient control.

The T3’s compact form factor allows for discreet placement, ensuring it integrates seamlessly into any room’s aesthetics. It accommodates adjacent rooms without signal spillover, maintaining clear, high-quality audio within a single space. Ideal for environments requiring privacy or confidentiality, such as corporate boardrooms or spaces with sensitive information.

System Includes

How It Works

The IR T3 can be controlled remotely via RS-232 commands. The commands include:

  • Powering the unit on/off
  • Remotely setting the IR frequency (2.3/2.8 or 3.3/3.8)
  • Muting the outgoing audio without powering off
  • Turning back panel LEDs on or off
  • Troubleshooting abilities

A full list of commands is available on the downloads tab in the Programmer’s Guide.

(1,765 m2) with the RX20 infrared receiver in singlechannel mode. The transmitter shall be housed in a heavy-duty black plastic enclosure with a metal plate base and a durable infrared transparent front lens. It shall be convection-cooled without fans and have a sleep/power save mode that shuts off the IR when no audio is present for 12 minutes. The Transmitter shall have a signal-to-noise ratio of 70 dB or better and have an audio frequency response of 95 Hz to 17.6Hz, -3 dB re 1 kHz (line inputs), and 125 Hz to 17.0 kHz, -3 dB re 1 kHz (microphone input). The Transmitter includes an omnidirectional mounting bracket for various permanent installations. Each channel shall have a line-level Phoenix-style connector input, and each channel shall have an audio input-level LED.There shall be a single 3.5 mm microphone input with gain control, and the mic input shall have a channel selector switch. The transmitter shall have a switch to turn off all indicator LEDs if pressed and held and change the carrier frequency set if pressed and held. The transmitter shall be powered by a 48 VDC universal power supply, 50-60 Hz, 100-240 VAC input, 18 W with optional Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. The transmitter shall have RS-232 monitoring and control available for third-party controllers. The transmitter shall be covered by a two-year parts and labor warranty and 90 days on accessories.
